Essence of the Oak
The Sierra's lower elevations and foothills are well known for their oak woodlands, consisting mostly of black oaks and blue oaks, their treeforms especially elegant. This spectacular tree, probably a blue, was located in the Sierra foothills near Oakhurst, still awaiting its signal to leaf out for spring, showing off its magnificent limbs in this rich woodland.
